
Participants in Sunday's Unlimited Gold race prepare to start
engines.

Tom Delashaw and Rick Svetkoff brought in
their "Ultimate Toys," F-104 Starfighters, to wow the crowd. Though they
performed each day in the airshow, there is no "Mach 2+" racing class in which
they could participate during Reno's "main event." These aircraft were by far
the fastest privately-owned planes at Reno.

Boeing PT-17 Stearman N4777V admirably represented the slower
end of the speed scale.
